SBU exposes corrupt official in Mykolaiv region
The SBU officers jointly with the Prosecutor General’s Office exposed the Chief of State Agency for Fishing Industry in Mykolaiv region on bribe tacking.
The law enforcers established that the official organized a corruptive mechanism of regular receiving illegal benefit from businessmen. He forced controllers on false grounds “put pressure” on businessmen predisposing them to pay monthly “tribute”. For this money, they could take fish and sea foods without disturbance and compulsory control measures for their business activities. Collected money subordinates passed to the Chief of the Agency.
The SBU officers detained the official in his office on receiving UAH 10,000 (second part of already received by him UAH 20,000) from a subordinate.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue about notification a suspect of suspicion of committing a crime and choosing a measure of restraint is being settled.
