SBU detains so-called LNR militant who tortured Ukrainian hostages
The SBU officers jointly with the Main Military Prosecutor's Office detained a militant of the terrorist organization LNR in Milov in Lugansk region.
In the framework of criminal proceeding, initiated under Part 1 of Article 258-3 and Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the law enforcement officers found that a native of the Luhansk region for a long time was a member of the terrorist illegal armed formations "Rome" and "1st Cossack sotnia of Sinelnikov", where he was a personal assistant to the leaders of the group.
During the pre-trial investigation the SBU officers documented that the militant took part in the tortures of Ukrainian troops taken as hostages by terrorists. He also, on the instructions of the Russian handlers, convoyed the captives to the territory of the Russian Federation.
The SBU operatives found that the militant decided to leave the illegal group and go to the territory controlled by Ukrainian authorities. He even got registered as a forced migrant to receive social benefits from Ukraine. The law enforcers detained the criminal while withdrawing the accrued amount from the ATM.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
