SBU prevents a number of terrorist acts in Ukraine – Vasyl Hrytsak (video)
SSU prevented a series of terrorist acts planned in the centre of Kyiv for destabilization of the situation in the country, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak told the President.
A prominent public figure in conspiracy with leaders of the so-called “DNR” have been systematically transporting weapons and ammunition to the territory controlled by Ukrainian authorities, operatives of the intelligence agency have documented. “Due to the measures taken by the Security Service of Ukraine, we were able to prevent large-scale terrorist acts in Ukraine that could have led to significant human casualties,” stressed the SBU Head.
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the military prosecutor's office, detained the plotter on his attempt to import a new arsenal of weapons and ammo through the “Mayorske” checkpoint. “The victims of these attacks could have been thousands of civilians, as well as individual politicians, government officials and MPs,” said Vasily Hrytsak.
The Security Service of Ukraine fully controlled the flow of ammunition to Ukraine and thwarted the plans of their usage.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings on Art. 263 and Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the detainee has been notified of suspicion in committing crime and put into custody.
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
