SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak meets with the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker
The SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak conducted a working meeting with the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
In the course of the meeting the SBU Head informed foreign partners about Russian large-scale hybrid aggression against Ukraine and its impudent violation of territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state. “Along with the escalation of the armed conflict in Donbas Russian intelligence takes active measures to destabilize the situation inside Ukraine”, said Vasyl Hrytsak.
Another series of evidence proving Russian cadre officers’ involvement into committing crimes against humanity in Ukraine – to include the shelling of Mariupol and Volnovakha that lead to 48 deaths of Ukrainians – was presented to the U.S. delegation.
The SBU Head has particularly focused the attention of the U.S. officials on the issue of hampering by the Russian side the prisoner exchange effort, with detainees being used as a tool for political pressure on Ukrainian Government by the Russian Federation. Vasyl Hrytsak passed a letter from the mothers of the Ukrainians that remain illegally imprisoned in the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The U.S. delegation conveyed its determination to continue the dialogue with the SBU and reassured of further support to Ukraine in its efforts to restore territorial integrity and counteract Russian aggressor.
