SBU exposes a corrupt official of the State Fiscal Service in Kyiv region
The officers of the SBU Department for fighting corruption and organized crime in cooperation exposed a corrupt official of the State Fiscal Service in Kyiv region, jointly with the National Police under procedural guidance of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The law enforcers established that the Chief State Examiner, inspector of the natural persons’ monitoring department, systematically extorted illegal profit from a businessman during unscheduled fiscal inspections. In case of a refusal, the official promised “to find” financial violations in the business.
SBU operatives documented that the Chief State Examiner offered the businessman to purchase household appliances worth UAH 20,000 (USD 770) with the purpose to reduce tax accruals. The appliances allegedly were meant for the leadership of the State Fiscal Service Main Office in Kyiv region.
SBU officers detained the taxman in his office after the businessman had paid for household appliances.
In the framework of criminal proceeding the offender was served a notice of suspicion in committing the crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigations aimed at verification of the involvement of the State Fiscal Service leadership in illegal actions are under way.
