Declassified documents from SBU Archives about the Chornobyl disaster put on UNESCO Register
Declassified documents from the State SBU Archive regarding Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster were put on the UN Register of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Issues.
Participants of the dedicated ceremony at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the public about the inclusion of the archival materials to the UNESCO's international "Memory of the World" register.
The list of documents comprehensively reflects the causes, course and consequences of the accident, the reaction of the Soviet authorities and relevant special services. A large part of the collection consists of documents from declassified KGB funds.
The State Archive Service of Ukraine presented SBU representatives with a certificate confirming the inclusion of archival documents to the relevant UNESCO registry.
