Kherson region: SBU uncovers accomplice of occupation authorities in Autonomous Republic of Crimea
SBU officers in Kherson region uncovered a Russian occupants’ accomplice who contributed to the illegal annexation of the Crimea.
The law enforcers established that in 2014 a Kherson resident, staying in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, joined the side of the aggressor and facilitated holding of the pseudo-referendum initiated by the occupation authorities.
The officers of the SBU Kherson Regional Office jointly with the SBU Main Investigative Department in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea conducted the authorized searches of the offender’s residence in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 2 Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During the investigative actions, law enforcers uncovered the medal awarded “For the return of the Crimea” by the Russia’s Ministry of Defense, the medal of the so-called Republic of Crimea “For defense of the Crimea” with the corresponding paperwork, a statement of a village executive committee in the Crimea regarding the involvement of the offender in securing the public order on the polling station, a passport of the Russian citizen and the Russian insurance certificate for pension provision. The men also kept the Certificates of appreciation issued by the Russian “Cossack organizations” and the so-called “local government bodies” of the temporary occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, banned communist symbols and “St. George” ribbons. Also, the law enforcers seized the F-1 and RGD-5 hand grenades and 250 g of substance that looked like gunpowder.
The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainees and choosing a measure of restraint is now being decided.
The urgent investigative and operative actions are under way.
