Kharkiv: SBU detains former “Oplot” member who organised clashes in City Council
SBU officers under the procedural guidance of the regional Prosecutor's Office detained one of the former members of the "Oplot" criminal organization involved in the organization of clashes in the Kharkiv City Council.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, SBU operatives established that Kharkiv resident, who is a martial arts coach, was actively engaged in mass clashes in Kharkiv City Council on June 20, 2018, in particular encouraging to violent actions against public activists.
According to the SBU, in the past the man was a member of the "Oplot" criminal organization. Currently the criminal is an active member of the organized group that operates under the guise of several local security businesses. Also he is involved in provocations, raids, and other actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.
Within the framework of initiated criminal proceedings , the SBU officers detained the criminal in Kharkiv in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine, when he was preparing to leave for Russia with the purpose of hiding from Ukrainian justice.
The urgent investigations are under way. All individuals involved in the aforementioned offenses are being identified.
