SBU unveiled head of village council in Kyiv region on appropriation of $25,000 worth of budget funds
SBU employees identified the head of a village council in the Kiev region and his first deputy who appropriated budget funds allocated for major repairs of roads.
Law enforcers found that officials concluded contracts and paid commercial structures for work on capital and current repairs of highways and sidewalks. However, the cost and volume of work performed were artificially inflated, which allowed the criminals to illegally assign more than UAH 700,000 (circa $25,000) of state money.
During authorized investigations at the premises of the village council, offices of commercial structures and places of residence of the suspected, SBU employees found documentary materials confirming the illegal activity.
Currently the head of the village council, his first deputy and two representatives of contracting companies have been served a note of suspicion. The investigative actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 5 Article 191 and Part 2 Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Prosecutor's Office and Police.
