SBU detains organizer of 2014 riots Luhansk (video)
The SBU Counter-Intelligence officers in course of special operation detained an organizer and active participant of the riot in Luhansk in spring 2014.
SBU officers established that Luhansk resident joined pro-Russian movements ‘Anti-Maidan’ and ‘South-East Army’ from the moment of their foundation, actively participating in the assault and seizure of SBU administrative building in Luhansk region on April 6, 2014. Later he participated in hostilities against the Ukrainian army, as part of illegal armed groups, in particular the Cossack’s and the ‘Batman’ Gang, which he joined with the help of his contacts in Russia’s FSB. In April 2015, forced out due to a conflict with the leaders of the gangs, the criminal left the militants and for a long time lived in the temporarily occupied Luhansk doing various part-time jobs.
For over four years, he was on the ‘wanted’ list on a charge for the crimes stipulated by Part 1 Article 294, Part 2 Article 262, Part 1 Article 341 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
SBU officers detained former militant on territory of Donbas controlled by Ukrainian authorities.
The criminal was served a notice of suspicion in attempting the violation of territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, stipulated by Part 2 Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He received custody as a measure of restraint.
The criminal is currently testifying to law enforcement officers on other persons involved in preparation and seizure of the SBU and SBU arsenal building in Luhansk region, on setting up the occupation Russia’s administration and Russian separatist armed groups, as well as on his contacts with representatives of the special services of the aggressor country.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
