SBU detains corrupt head of State Environmental Monitoring in Zhytomyr region
The SBU officers exposed a corrupt head of State Environmental Monitoring in Zhytomyr region.
SBU operatives established that the official demanded from a representative of a regional gardening community to transfer into his permanent possession four land plots valued at least at UAH 120,000 (USD 4,300). For this value the official promised to stop inspections and penalties for unsanctioned deforestation by the unknown persons on the territory of the community.
The law enforcers detained the criminal at the workplace, on his receiving the papers for entry to the community and the use rights with privatization option.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the issues of serving a notice of suspicion and choosing the measure of restraint are being settled.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office.
