SBU blocks firearms smuggling to Ukraine
SBU officers of Main Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the State Bureau of Investigations blocked smuggling of foreign-produced weapons to our country.
SBU operatives established that the officials of domestic commercial structures tried to illegally transport the foreign-made automatic firearms across the state border.
To legalise the arms, the dealers planned to certify them as “hunting” and “sport” items, acting on previous agreement with the officials of the State Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcers unveiled 250 rifled-bore weapons “CZ Scorpion EV03 S1” during the sanctioned investigative actions in one of the customs offices.
The investigative actions on bringing to the criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the unlawful actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 2 Article 201 and Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
