SBU exposes corrupt senior state inspector of Kherson Customs
The officers of the SBU Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime exposed a corrupt senior state inspector of the customs point ”Kherson-Central” of Customs Service in Kherson, Crimea and Sevastopol.
The Security Service officers established that the customs officer demanded USD 2,000 from Ukrainian citizen for “green light” for transfer of particularly large sums of money to the temporary annexed territory of Crimea.
The law-enforcers detained the inspector under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, in Kherson on receiving USD 500, the final part of the unlawful benefit.
The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the offender in committing the crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 368, the investigative actions and searches are conducted at the officials’ workplaces and residences.
In the framework of pre-trial investigation, actions of the chief of the Customs Point who helped the detainee to realize criminal plan will get a legal assessment.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Military Prosecutor's Office and the State Bureau of Investigations.
