Cherkasy region: SBU blocks distribution of anti-Ukrainian propaganda
SBU officers blocked the distribution of propaganda materials aimed at stirring up religious hatred in Cherkasy.
The operatives of the Security Service established that a local resident of Cherkasy, a Russian native, a member of the Union of Russian Writers, wrote materials ordered by handlers from Russia, where he condemned creation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the decision to give Ukraine the Tomos, giving negative assessment of these events. He distributed the materials on Russian websites.
During an authorized search at the criminal’s place of residence, law enforcers found computer equipment with provocation materials, memory sticks and a laptop. The seized items were sent for further examination.
In the framework of criminal proceeding initiated by Part 1 of art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine investigations are under way. The issue of serving a notice of suspicion in committing a crime to the person involved in the case is now being settled.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
