Dnipro: SBU exposes customer and perpetrator of anonymous reports of alleged court mining (video)

SBU officers exposed the ordering party and the executor of anonymous reports on alleged mining of the Central Economic Appeal Court of Dnipro city.

The SBU operatives established that a resident of the regional centre anonymously reported on alleged mining of the administrative building of the court, aiming to block the work of the institution. The criminal was acting upon instructions of his “shadow” business partner, whose case was on hearing in the Court.

The law enforcers detained the performer and the customer of false reports under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The criminals were served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 1 Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being settled. Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Police.

SBU reminds that regardless of the motives of “anonymous terrorists”, their actions are qualified in accordance with Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In line with this Article, a knowingly false report on mining of any property is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to six years. For a repeated calling offence, the offender could be convicted from four to eight years.

The “telephone anonyms” will also have to compensate the losses incurred by state and commercial institutions due to their unlawful actions.
