SBU blocks international criminal group
In Kyiv the SBU officers blocked the activity of an international organized group specializing in manufacturing and selling of drugs and psychotropic substances.
The SBU operatives established that the group, consisting of Ukrainian citizens and residents of one of Middle East countries, manufactured drugs. The criminals organized “manufacturing” at their places of residence. The group members sold the ready “goods” in the capital and on the territory of Kyiv, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions.
According to the SBU, the criminals spent money received from the drug sale to help the illegal activity of one of Middle East terrorist organizations.
During authorized investigations the law enforcers seized from criminals’ premises 65 kilograms of cannabis, 15 kilograms of hemp seeds and psychotropic substances that were sent for expertise. Also the operatives found unregistered firearms, bank cards used for payments for drugs, cash received from illegal activity and other material evidence, confirming the illegal actions.
Some 11 criminals were served notices of suspicion in committing the crime, under Part 2, 3 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the custody was chosen as a measure of restraint. The investigative actions on bringing to responsibility other group member involved in the illegal activity are under way in the framework of initiated criminal proceeding.
The operation was conducted jointly with the investigators of Solomianskyi National Police Department in Kyiv under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office No. 9.
