Odesa: SBU exposes an international group distributing weapons
In the framework of countering illegal arms trafficking, the SBU officers under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office blocked the international group specializing on selling firearms and ammo in Odesa.
The SBU operatives established that five residents of regional centre, including Russian citizen and a citizen of one of the neighbouring countries, bought weapons illegally exported from the Joint Forces Operation area for further resale. Also, the criminals upgraded the traumatic weapons into combat arms for sale to representatives of criminal circles.
The SBU operatives documented that offenders sold two F-1 grenades and a Makarov pistol.
The law enforcers detained two members of the group in Odesa on their attempt to sell a Nagan revolver.
During the authorized investigations at the residence places of three other offenders, the law enforcers seized six grenades and fuses, over 350 ammo of various calibres. Also, parts of firearms, equipment for weapons upgrading and ammunition manufacturing were found.
Three members of the group were served a notice of suspicion in committing a crime. The investigative actions on bringing to the criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the unlawful actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
