Odesa region: SBU exposes corrupt Village Council Head
SBU officers jointly with the Prosecutor’s Office exposed bribe-tacking head of a village council of Sarata district in Odesa region.
The law enforcers established that the official demanded USD 10,000 from a local businessman for positive decision on the allocation of a land plot (total area 0.5 ha) with a prospect of its privatization.
Law enforcers arrested the head near village council after her receiving the first part of the bribe amounting to USD 2,000. Earlier, the SBU officers documented several facts of receiving a “pre-payment” by the criminal.
During a search in her office, law enforcers found cash (foreign currency), origin is being established, and part of money received from illegal activities.
Investigations, in the framework of criminal proceeding initiated by Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are ongoing in order to establish all circumstances of the fraud and other possible facts of illegal activity of the detainee. Also, the involvement of other officials and deputies of the village council in land plots frauds is being checked.
