Vinnytsia region: SBU exposes corrupt policemen
The employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, in the framework of counteracting systemic corruption in law enforcement agencies, exposed Patrol Police officers of the Main Directorate of the National Police Department in Vinnytsia region on regular receiving of improper advantage.
Special service operatives documented more than fifty facts of extortion and receiving of bribes from Ukrainian citizens and foreigners by the policemen, in particular for not responding to crimes against property and not prosecuting for violations of traffic rules.
Law enforcers detained in accordance with the Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine, chief of the Response Unit of the Patrol Police and the inspector of the Unit in an official vehicle, when receiving a bribe from a local resident in the amount of six thousand hryvnias. In this amount, the attackers “estimated" non-bringing a man to administrative liability.
Within the framework of initiated criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the notices of suspicion of committing a crime and choosing a measure of restraint for the detainees is being prepared.
Pre-trial investigation on bringing to criminal responsibility of other Patrol Police officials, involved in the extortion and receiving of improper advantage is under way.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Vinnytsia Garrison of the Central Region of Ukraine jointly with the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations in Khmelnytskyi city and the National Police Internal Security Department.
