SBU stops malware in State Judicial Administration
SBU officers uncovered the officials of the state-owned enterprise “Informational judicial systems” of State Judicial Administration of Ukraine on using a malware during maintenance of IT systems of judicial bodies.
SBU operatives established, recorded and confirmed the illegal using of malware for covert collection of information by the officials of state-owned enterprise “Informational judicial systems”.
During pre-trial proceeding, specialists confirmed the use of state-owned hardware for operation of third-party web sites. SBU officers also documented that the criminals used server equipment for cryptocurrency mining. According to experts, criminals’ actions caused severe losses to the state budget.
During sanctioned investigation actions, law enforcers obtained sufficient evidence about illegal activity at the criminals’ residences, in particular, found the malware on their personal computers.
Criminals received a notice of suspicion within the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 1 Article 359, Part 1 Article 361 and Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In order to identify other persons involved in illegal activity, investigative actions are ongoing.
The operation was conducted jointly with SBU Department of counter-intelligence protection of state information security in cooperation with Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Kyiv under procedural supervision of General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine and Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv.
