SBU uncovers border guards and customs officials in facilitation illegal migration to Russia
SBU blocked in Kharkiv region the transportation of illegal migrants in Russia, involving guards and customs officers.
Operatives of the special service found that this illegal transportation was organized by the resident of Kharkiv region. He searched customers among residents of Middle East who illegally stayed in the territory of Ukraine with violation of migration laws and tried to get into Russia. Crossing of Ukrainian border was provided by the officials.
For the "reward" from USD 500 to USD 800 organizer of illegal migration transported migrants in his own car, hiding under the goods and things. Also it was documented that the offender, having agreed with the FSB Border Service officials, set up a supply of smuggled goods from Russia to Ukraine, crossing the border several times a week.
Law enforcers detained the offender in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in due course of crossing “Hoptivka” check-point of Kharkiv customs. Illegal migrant, funds for transportation in the amount of USD 500, goods, parcels and Russian roubles were found in the vehicle of the detainee.
The issue of serving to detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being settled.
The special operation was conducted by the SBU Office in Kharkiv region jointly with the State Border Guard Service under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office in Kharkiv region.
