SBU detains two heads of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences for abuse in public purchases
SBU detained in Kyiv two mid-level executives of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, demanding money from a businessman for the supply of agricultural products during procurement.
Operatives of the special service in conjunction with the Prosecutor’s General Office and the State Bureau of Investigations found that two officials of the NAAS extorted from businessman over USD 50 thousand of “payoff" for the supply of grain at state enterprises that are managed by the Academy.
Law-enforcement officers arrested two involved persons in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine when receiving one of the parts of improper advantage.
According to operative information, officials also proposed to businessman for 1 million of US dollars the position of the head of an enterprise under Academy’s control.
The investigative actions under the initiated criminal proceedings are under way.
