Smuggler of ecstasy drew minors for capital-bound drugs trafficking
The Security Service of Ukraine blocked the smuggling of psychotropic substances from a European country to the territory of Ukraine.
SBU field agents in the Lviv region found that a resident of Kyiv set up an illegal channel for transfer of ecstasy and amphetamine from abroad for sale in our country. Foreign associates of the drugs trafficker sent the goods to Lviv through international postal communication services. The Kyiv resident then attracted minors for transferring of the parcels to the capital.
Employees of security service detained the organiser of drug trafficking ring on his receiving another party of psychotropic drugs. During the inspection of the parcel the law enforcement seized 500 “ecstasy” (MDMA) pills and amphetamine worth over USD 6,500 at the black market.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion in committing the crime stipulated by Pt. 3 Art. 305 (“Smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors”) of the CPC. The measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen.
The Article provides from 10 to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The urgent investigative actions on establishing all circumstances of the case and bringing to criminal responsibility other persons involved in the illegal activity are under way.
