SBU CI Department unveils attempt of Russia’s special services to recruit Mariupol resident (video)
SBU continues to unveil the facts of involvement of Ukrainian citizens in confidential cooperation for the benefit of special services of Russia.
Mariupol resident was detained by Russia’s FSB representatives during the state border crossing. With the use of psychological pressure, they tried to persuade him to confidential cooperation to collect information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainian law enforcement staff.
At that, FSB representative extorted money from Ukrainian for non-creation of artificial obstacles during conducting of business activities by him and his colleagues. In case of refusal, he, in particular, threatened to forbid Russia for businessman and prevent his meetings with close relatives, living there.
SBU again recalls that Art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code envisages imprisonment for up to 15 years. However, according to the provisions of Part. 2, Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, citizens of Ukraine are released from criminal liability if they did not commit any acts requested by a foreign state, foreign organization or their representatives and voluntarily reported on links with them and the received task.
SBU warns that any citizen of Ukraine may fall into the sight of Russia’s special services.
