Charity event dedicated to fallen SBU Heroes takes place in Vinnytsia
On the Day of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes the collective of the SBU National Academy within the all-Ukrainian charity tour commemorating the fallen SBU officials presented an exhibition of pictures “The Invisible Guard” and a performance-requiem “War without a Term…” in Vinnytsia.
The charity event took place in Vinnytsia Regional Philharmonic Hall under the auspices of the SBU Office in Vinnytsia Region. The regional authorities, chiefs of regional law enforcement agencies, the clergy, colleagues and combat fellows, representatives of military formations, non-governmental organizations and educational establishments of Vinnytsia came to commemorate the fallen Ukrainian Heroes. The relatives of the fallen SBU officials – mother of the participant of the Revolution of Dignity Andrii Halushchenko and the family of the Vinnytsia resident – Andrii Dolhov, official of the ‘Alpha’ Special Task Force also joined the event.
The rector of the SBU National Academy Serhii Kudinov opened the exhibition, the co-author and mover of which is the SBU National Academy official, a painter Lesia Shydenko. He told to those present about the idea and the aim of the event and thanked Vinnytsia residents for their hearty welcome. ‘At this bad time for our country we get used to the statistics of losses and do not always think about how much heroism and courage are hidden behind them. The lives of the fallen Ukrainian Heroes are unique. During the ATO the SBU also lost the best. And we tell about them so that their names and deeds will live forever’, the SBU Academy rector stressed.
According to the rector, the SBU National Academy staff and cadets enliven the lives of the SBU Heroes who protected Ukrainian land and in this way they honor the fallen colleagues. He also reminded that the date of the event in Vinnytsia is coincident with the anniversary of the commemoration of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes: ‘We hold this event in those days of February that will live in the hearts of the Ukrainians for a long time. Together with the Ukrainians we commemorate the Heroes. Our official Andrii Halushchenko with a call sign ‘Andrew’ was a deputy centurion of the Third Sotnia of Maidan Self-Defence. After the Revolution of Dignity our fellow fell in the ATO area’.
Before the performance the mother Zoia Andriivna Halushchenko and the wife Olena Dolhova addressed to the audience and thanked the collective of the Security Service of Ukraine and the SBU National Academy for commemoration of their families and for the truth about the heroism of the SBU officials. The mother of «Andrew» remembered onstage the names of four fallen Vinnytsia residents from the Heavenly Hundred and read her own poem «Face of the Maidan».
The Deputy Chief of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Andrii Hyzhko and the Chief of the SBU Office in Vinnytsia Region Ihor Shkurat also expressed gratitude to the SBU National Academy collective for the patriotic event, which deeply impressed the audience. ‘Many young historians today, writing the recent history of Ukraine, say that in 2014 the ‘Alfa’ Special Task Force was not ready to perform combat missions. It is not true. The ‘Alfa’ servicemen were the first who understood that there is a war going on, rose in defense of Ukraine and accepted the fight. And this performance about their deeds confirmed my words», - Ihor Shkurat noticed.
After the performance the rector of the Academy and the chief of the SBU regional office delivered collected charitable funds for the treatment of wounded servicemen to Oleksander Stolyarenko, the deputy chief of Military medical clinical center of Central region. ‘Russian secret services and terrorists wanted to invade far more – Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro – actually the whole Ukraine. And the fact that today they invaded just Donetsk and my native Luhansk is a merit of our counterintelligence officials, who prevented such plans in other regions of Ukraine’, - Oleksander Stolyarenko noticed. The chief of the hospital stressed that the SBU Academy exhibition of pictures and performance-requiem is an example of tribute to the memory of Ukrainian servicemen. According to him, the charitable funds will help our servicemen to join the ranks and return healthy to their families as soon as possible.
The charity event attracted over four thousands of visitors in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv and Vinnitsa during five weeks.
