Carpathian region: SBU blocks business of organized drug-dealing group
SBU officers blocked the activity of an organized group which arranged precursors smuggling for further psychotropic substances production on the territory of Ukraine.
The SBU operatives established that the residents of Ivano-Frankivsk region organized wholesale precursors supply from East Asia for methamphetamine production. The criminals equipped the drug laboratory on the territory of one of the garage cooperatives of the region.
The law enforcers detained two organizers of illegal business with 5 kg of precursors under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in a district centre after receiving a regular “order”. The amount of seized substance would be enough to produce psychotropics worth UAH 1,500,000 (USD 54,755) according to the “black market” prices.
During the searches in the offenders’ premises and their vehicles, the law enforcers seized containers, chemical reagents and compounds necessary for drugs production, precursors, cannabis, weapons and notes confirming the illegal activity.
The detainees were served a notice of suspicion of committing crimes stipulated by Part 3 Article 305 and Part 3 Article 311 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigative actions aimed at identifying all episodes of illegal activity are under way.
The operation was conducted by the SBU Regional Ivano-Frankivsk Office jointly with the SBU Main Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Ivano-Frankivsk Garrison.
