Kyiv region: SBU exposes militant of “DNR” terrorist organization
SBU CI Department officers exposed former militant of “DNR” terrorist organization in Kyiv region.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, the SBU investigators established, that in 2014 a Khartsyzk resident was serving in one of the illegal military units of the so-called “DNR”. While participating in illegal armed formations, the offender served as a guard of headquarters, dislocated in his native town.
The militant participated in military exercises, held by the regular servicemen of Russia. The leaders of terrorist organization engaged the militant in guard duty at the checkpoints and at the positions nearby the line of contact.
The man had been quickly disappointed at the “ideals’ of the terrorists, he had been working in mines for almost two years, after that he decided to move to Kyiv region.
During an authorized search at the ex-militant’s place of residence in Kyiv region, the law enforcers found additional evidence of his unlawful activities, in particular several mobile phones and computer equipment, which store communications, connected with service in terrorist organization.
The SBU investigators served to militant a notice of suspicion of committing the crime stipulated by Part 1 Art. 258-3 (Creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The attacker pleaded guilty and gave testimony, exposing Russia’s regular servicemen presence in temporarily occupied territories.
The pre-trial investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyiv region is now completed, the criminal proceedings with an indictment are brought to the court for the consideration of the merits.
