Kharkiv region: SBU blocks drugs smuggling from Benelux countries
Officers of the SBU Main Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime in Kharkiv stopped drugs and psychotropic substances smuggling from one of the EU countries.
SBU operatives established that the resident of the regional center set up deliveries of large consignments of cocaine and amphetamine from Europe. The offender ordered drugs on the specialized web-sites and received them under the guise of cosmetics through one of the international post services. The resident of Kharkiv sold the “product” through a network of dealers in different regions of the country.
Law enforcers detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving another parcel with 150 grams of cocaine and 6,000 XTC pills. The estimated “black market” price of seized drugs amounts to UAH 2,500,000 (USD 89,300).
In the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Article 305 and Part 2 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigative actions are under way with the aim of establishing all circumstances of the case and other persons involved into illegal activity.
The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police and the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
