Zaporizzhya region: SBU CI Department detains militant of the “DNR” illegal armed formations (video)

SBU CI Department officers detained a member of the “DNR” terrorist organization in Zaporizzhya region.

Special services operatives have established that a resident of Shakhtarsk, staying in Donetsk region in detention place for committing a serious crime, was discharged from imprisonment in April 2014 upon the condition that he will join the ranks of illegal armed formations. In Slaviiansk, he joined a terrorist group led by Girkin (Strelkov).

As a rifleman, he actively participated in the seizure of administrative buildings in Slaviiansk, supplying weapons and ammunition from Russia to the territory of Donetsk region, fulfilling the task of spotting the artillery shelling of the anti-terrorist operation forces, and also with dedly force countered the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In due course, the militant moved to the terrorist unit “Boevye Koty" of the 7th separate motorized infantry brigade of the 2nd Army Corps of the “DNR” People's Militia. It was established that in 2017, a militant in the temporarily uncontrolled Ukrainian authorities’ territory of Donetsk region was accused of robbery and put on a wanted list by the so-called “DNR” law enforcement agencies.

At the end of July 2019, the attacker arrived in the territory of Zaporizzya region, where he resided with relatives, who moved to the region with the beginning of hostilities in Donbass. Law-enforcers detained the former militant at the place of temporary residence.

SBU investigators served to offender a notice of suspicion of committing a crime, stipulated by Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a custody as a measure of restraint is currently being settled.

The operative and investigative actions are under way.
