SBU exposes racketeers on extorting over USD 80,000 from head of state agrarian company
The officers of the SBU Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime exposed and stopped the activity of an organized group whose members demanded money from the head of a regional state-owned company subordinated to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
SBU operatives have found that the offenders demanded USD 83,500 from the company's head. For this sum, the criminals promised to influence the Ministry officials in order to extend his term of office.
Law enforcers arrested two group members in the capital following Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, on receiving USD 19,000, the last part of the bribe.
In the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the issue about serving the detained a notice of suspicion in committing the crime is being solved.
The operation was conducted jointly with investigators of State Bureau of Investigations under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office and with help of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
