SBU detains Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories (video)
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the NABU detectives and representatives of the Department of Special Investigations of the Prosecutor General's Office detained the Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In the framework of the criminal proceedings, operatives of the special service established that the senior official, together with an assistant, extorted 1.1 million US dollars from an entrepreneur for allegedly facilitating decision-making by persons authorized to perform state functions.
The law enforcers detained both offenders in Kyiv on receiving a part of bribe in the amount of 480,000 US dollars.
The investigative actions were conducted under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the department of procedural guidance in criminal proceedings on crimes of a special category of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
Criminal proceeding is investigated by a joint investigation team comprising representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office Department of Special Investigations.
