SBU blocks the mechanism of illegal passenger traffic from the so-called "LNR"
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine involved in the Joint Forces Operation blocked the mechanism of illegal passenger traffic from the temporarily occupied districts of Luhansk region to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities and in the opposite direction.
The special service operatives established that the illegal business was organized by two residents of Stakhanov, who had Ukrainian permits to carry out international transportation with indefinite duration. Later, dealers registered as entities in the so-called “LNR". According to intelligence, offenders paid "taxes and charges" to the budget of pseudo-state formation.
For the illegal traffic, they involved eight residents of Stakhanov and Kharkiv as drivers. Buses with passengers headed towards Russia through the temporarily uncontrolled by Ukrainian government area of the state border and entered Ukraine through checkpoints.
During the authorized investigations in the residences and vehicles of the persons involved in the proceedings, the law enforcers seized documents and other evidence, proving illegal actions.
Currently, the SBU investigators served to two organizers of illegal traffic notices of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 3 Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The arrest of a vehicle has been also imposed. Custody for a term of 60 days was chosen as a measure of restraint for the persons involved in the proceedings.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
Measures to uncover the offenders were conducted together with the SBU Main Directorate of Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of the State's Interests, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Luhansk region.
