SBU detects illegal sand extraction in Zhytomyr region
SBU jointly with the police and the State ecological inspection detected a private enterprise, which industrially extracted sand in Korostyshivskyi district of Zhytomyr region.
A sand pit was equipped by malefactors near Rozkydaylivka village at the lands of Shakhvorostivsk forestry.
In the middle of 2015 this land plot 39.4 hectares in area was passed over for use to extractive enterprise by the decision of Zhytomyr regional council. But the Supreme Administrative Court canceled a decision of regional council as unlawful act and returned the land to community property in April 2016 at the suit of the prosecutor’s office.
In the frameworks of the criminal proceeding under p.1 Article 240 (violation of rules related to the protection of mineral resources) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the damage to environment and losses, inflicted to the state by illegal actions of malefactors have been clarified.
