SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak takes part in ceremony dedicated to Defender of Ukraine Day
A prayer dedicated to Defender of Ukraine Day was held in Ukrainian capital in Sofiia Kyivska. The ceremony was attended by the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the commanders of the Ukrainian army. In Sofiiska Square the students of the Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun took oath of their faith to Ukraine. The SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak took part in this ceremony.
In Mariinskyi Palace the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko awarded seven SBU officers including Vladyslav Buvalkin who was awarded by II Degree Order “For courage”.
In his congratulation, Vasyl Hrytsak said, “Defender of Ukraine Day and the great orthodox Holy Virgin Protection are tightly connected with each other. They symbolize the unity of generations and are highly respected by Ukrainians. It has been well said that the Holy Virgin Protection was highly respected by the Cossacks and Ukrainian Rebel Army. So let Holy Virgin Protection protect todays defenders of Ukraine who fight the Russian aggressor”.
“I thank you a lot for your dignity”. According to the SBU Head Ukrainians are peaceful people. That is why todays holiday is solely peaceful but not militant. “We want and can live in peace in our land. But we can and we will protect it”, Vasyl Hrytsak stressed.
Yesterday during the ceremony in the SBU Vasyl Hrytsak handed out state and departmental awards to SBU officers.
