Former police officer released from criminal responsibility in the framework of SBU Program “Waiting for You at Home” (video)
In the framework of the Program “Waiting for You at Home” the SBU officers persuaded a former militant of the so-called LNR to voluntarily lay down arms and return to normal life.
The law enforcers established that the officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine joined an illegal armed formation of the so-called LNR since the military actions in the territory of Lysychansk district in Luhansk region began. Because of the attack of the ATO forces, together with militants he ran to Kadiivka (former Stakhanov). Being in the temporarily occupied territory, he quickly gave up with the vain promises of the militants, realized the criminality of their actions and unmoral way of life, wrote a report of release and had been hiding at his relatives for a long time.
The SBU officers got information about the voluntary refusal of the former police officer to fight against his own nation, commit murders and other crimes against his own citizens. The man was offered to take part in the Program “Waiting for You at Home”.
Because of the fact that the former police officer voluntarily informed the law enforcement agency about all the circumstances of his activity for the good of the militants, did not take part in military actions and did not commit other grave and especially grave crimes, the court released him from criminal responsibility under Part 2 Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
After the court decision was received, the man called the militants for not to be afraid to lay down arms and come back to their relatives.
