SBU prevents taking of Apostol black-letter book out to Russia
The SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak informed the President Petro Poroshenko that the officers of the SBU Headquarters and Main Office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea prevented taking of Apostol black-letter book out to Russia.
The law enforcers apprehended the courier at Pletenivka border checkpoint in Kharkiv region. The citizen of Ukraine tried to secretly transport the ancient book to the Russian Federation in a minibus with Russian registration plates. The SBU officers established that the man agreed to deliver the valuable book to the customers from Shebekino in Bilhorod region of Russia for financial reward.
By the previous assessment of the DLitt, professor of the Faculty of Library Science and Social Communications of Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, chief of Book Science and Collections of Rare Publishing and Manuscripts Division Ihor Losiievskyi, the confiscated book can be a Cyrillic black-letter book of the 16th –beginning of the 17th century named Apostol that is of historic, cultural and scientific value.
The full information about the year of publication and the origin of the book will be available after the expertise defined by the pretrial investigation.
