SBU exposes mechanism of vote “markup” on registering fake petitions
The SBU officers exposed a mechanism of artificial vote “markup” on forwarding the petition about the impeachment of the President of Ukraine on the web site of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council Executive Committee.
The SBU operatives established that the fake petition on web site was registered through the IP-address of a Central Asia country. The appeal containing pseudo-demands was signed by citizen of Ukraine, suspected in separatism, who at that time was in custody.
The SBU officers documented that in order to create IP-address it was created the e-mail registered with the use of head-end equipment, located on the temporary occupied territory of Luhansk region.
As of the time when over 700 profiles signed the petition, the law enforcers established that only 6 of them were real Internet users, and others have visible signs of “bots”.
The SBU calls the citizens and mass media representatives to be resistant to provocations and remember that the aggressor country the entire time is trying to destabilize Ukraine from within. The issue of the impeachment of the President is not among the city councils` empowerments. The aim of such information dissemination is artificial unhinging of the situation inside the country. The SBU asks to scrutinize the information sources and do not play into the hand of the aggressor.
