SBU in Cherkasy region detains agent of RF secret services (video)
The SBU officers in Cherkasy region detained an agent of the External Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.
The SBU operatives established that the native of Samara, RF, who for a long time lived in the territory of Cherkasy region and became a Ukrainian citizen, was recruited by of the External Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation as far back as 1996.
Since the Russian aggression began, the handlers set before him a task to become a member of the socio-political organizations with patriotic orientation. The SBU officers documented that the criminal conducted subversive activity in Kyiv city and Cherkasy region. He transferred the received information to Russian secret services.
Since the hostility on the East of Ukraine began, he also recruited mercenaries for participation in military actions on the side of DNR/LNR terrorist organizations. The SBU counterintelligence officers detained the agent during special operation. In the course of searches in the residence of the criminal, the law enforcers exposed mobile device with handlers` contacts and computer equipment containing the evidence of transferring the information to the Russian secret services.
The detainee was notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
