SBU in Kiev prevents smuggling of counterfeit medicaments to Ukraine
The SBU officers in Kiev in cooperation with the customs officers prevented smuggling of the large consignment of counterfeit medicaments into Ukraine.
The SBU operatives documented that the citizen of one of the countries of South Asia regularly imported medicines of doubtful provenance to Ukraine that were not licensed by the National Ministry of Health. The medicine was sold through private doctors in one of the regions of Ukraine.
While checking the luggage of the foreigner arrived to the Borispol International Airport, the SBU officers uncovered hidden from the customs control medicaments, in particular, for cancer and hepatitis treatment.
According to expert’s opinion, the cost of seized counterfeit medicaments according to the "black market" is over UAH 600,000. Smuggled goods were sent for expertize.
The procedural actions are under way.
