SBU prevents import of Russian wiretapping complex of equipment of cellular networks in Dnipro (video)
The SBU officers prevented attempt to import Russian complex of wiretapping equipment of cellular networks into Ukraine.
The law enforcers established that the Dnipro merchant decided to order in the country-aggressor the special complex for the surreptitious obtaining of information for USD 200,000. The offender planned to wiretap telephone conversations of civil servants and business competitors. The SBU officers documented that the delivery of the complex had to be conducted under the control of the RF secret services.
During the multi-stage operation, the SBU operatives imitated import of special equipment into Ukraine and detained the businessman on attempting to purchase it.
During authorized searches in the premises owned and used by the merchant, the law enforcers seized devices of surreptitious obtaining of information that were camouflaged under welfare items and computer equipment on which the software for surreptitious obtaining of information was installed.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 2 Article 359 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigative actions are under way.
