SBU gets more evidence of Russia’s military participation in hostilities in Donbas
SBU CI officers jointly with the AFU servicemen obtained more evidence of Russia’s military participation in hostilities in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk Region.
The SBU operatives established that in early 2016 a local resident of Stakhanov joined the ranks of illegal armed groups of pro-Russian terrorists. At first, the man served in the so-called engineer-bomb company stationed in occupied Luhansk, later - in the “4th separate motorized rifle brigade”. According to the testimony of the defector, Russian AF professional soldiers headed both units. In particular, one Russia’s national personally managed training of the terrorists in the territory of Lutuhynsk district; he was also in charge of moving of Russian special vehicles from Tahanroh, Rostov Region, to Luhansk.
Having suffered from physical abuse and emotional humiliation from the “key personnel”, the militant became aware of erroneousness of his decision and returned on the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine. AFU servicemen detained the man on attempting to cross the line of contact; he was later handed over to SBU officers.
At present, in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 1 Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the former militant actively cooperates with
the investigation and gives evidence on crimes of Russia’s servicemen and their puppets on separatist-held areas of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.
The SBU reminds that persons who voluntarily informed law-enforcement bodies about terrorist activities and helped to prevent or stop them, and who didn’t commit any other crimes, will be exempted from criminal liability.
