Vinnytsia region: SBU blocks scheme of legalization of pro-Russian militants on the peaceful Ukrainian territories
The SBU officers exposed the scheme used for legalization of “L/DNR” militants on the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.
SBU operatives established that two residents of temporarily occupied Donetsk organized a mechanism for issuing Ukrainian passports to pro-Russian terrorists, for their subsequent entry into the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. With the assistance of the State Migration Service officials, the criminals pasted in the documents of persons who joined the illegal armed groups the passport photos required on reaching 25 and 45 years of age. This allowed the militants to enter the peaceful territory of Ukraine to conduct terrorist and reconnaissance-subversive activities.
In the framework of criminal proceeding initiated by Part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the law enforcers detained one of the organizers of the illegal scheme in Vinnytsia, where he travelled in personal affairs.
Law enforcers conduct investigations in the offices and the residence places of the State Migration Service officials involved in the fraud. The issue of serving other criminals a notice of suspicion in committing a crime and taking them into custody is currently being solved.
The operation was conducted by the operatives of the SBU Office in the Vinnytsia region jointly with the SBU Main Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime and the SBU Counter-Intelligence Department under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
