Mandzyk Victor Serhiiovych
Viktor Mandzyk was born on December 7, 1986 in the city of Lutsk.
He began his military career as an operative in the SSU Office in Volyn region.
In the first days of Russian aggression in Donbas, Captain Mandzyk filed a request to send him to the ATO area as a part of the operations team.
Captain Mandzyk tragically died in the town of Volnovakha, Donetsk region, on March 21, 2015. His group had a military confrontation with an organised criminal group that smuggled goods across the contact line and robbed locals.
For personal courage and dedicated service to the Ukrainian people, Captain Victor Mandzyk was awarded the Order "For Courage" of III degree (posthumously) by Decree of the President of Ukraine of March 23, 2015.
One of the educational subdivisions of the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine is named after Victor. A memorial plaque was installed on the facade of the SSU Office in Volyn Oblast. A memorial sign was also erected in Volnovakha, and a memorial cross was erected at the site of the officer's death.
The SSU Office in Volyn region launched an annual volleyball tournament in memory of Viktor, known for his sporting achievements.
