Shpak Mark Valentynovych
Mark Shpak was born on August 2, 1988 in the city of Kyiv.
After serving in the Ukrainian military, he chose to commit his life to the SSU.
In 2011, he was admitted to the Department of Administrative Support of the Security Service of Ukraine. He was soon appointed an operative driver of the SSU Special Operations Center "A".
On June 24, 2014, senior ensign Shpak was in an MI-8 helicopter flying over Mount Karachun near Sloviansk, Donetsk Region. The group had successfully installed special equipment on the mountain to record violations of the ceasefire by militants. The helicopter was shot down by a portable anti-aircraft missile system. All nine Ukrainian soldiers on board were killed.
By military decree of the President of Ukraine of 08.08.2014, senior ensign Shpak Mark was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree (posthumously).
Mark is survived by his wife and son.
