The SBU exposed corruption during the overhaul of the sports complex in Donetsk region. Illegal scheme was organized by the head of the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of one of the regional city councils and the director of contracting company.

SBU operatives established that the offenders embezzled funds during the overhaul of the sports and recreation complex in a regional settlement.
State allocated UAH 7 million (USD 250,00) for reconstruction of the above-mentioned facility. However, the offenders misappropriated UAH 3.5 million (USD 125,000). To launder the money, they entered false information in the acts of work performed and the amount of used construction materials.

Investigators served the detainees suspicion notices of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion or property by malversation; neglect of official duty.

Within the initiated criminal proceedings, investigative actions are underway to bring to justice other people involved in scheme.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the SBU Main Directorate for CI Protection of State Economic Interests, jointly with National Police investigators under the supervision of the Pokrovskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
