SBU exposed the mechanism of embezzlement by the head of the village council of budget funds allocated for road repairs in Zakarpattya region.

Operatives of the special service found that the head of the local government, in collusion with the director of a private enterprise, organized scheme of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for repair of local roads.

The official knowingly approved false information in acts of rendered services and provided payment.  The amount of provided services was overstated by nearly a million hryvnias, which have been appropriated by the participants of the transaction.

In the framework of criminal proceeding initiated under Part 5 Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigative actions on bringing to the criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the deal are under way.

Measures to expose and block illegal actions were conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Zakarpattya region.
