SBU prevents smuggling of ecstasy from EU

SBU officers prevented the illegal import of psychotropes from the EU.

The operatives and special services investigators established that the resident of Sumy region is planning to set up illegal supplies of ecstasy to Ukraine. She was planning to import drugs while travelling abroad. The tourist was detained at Boryspil International Airport while attempting to import ecstasy. The intruder hid the psychotropes in a package of sweets.

The investigative actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way. Currently other individuals involved in the unlawful actions are being identified. The issue of serving to the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a crime is being settled.

The operation was conducted by the officers of the SBU Office in Sumy region in conjunction with the SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime and the SBU Main Directorate for the Counterintelligence Protection of the National Economy, Customs and Border Guard Service under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Sumy region.
