Resident of Kherson region is sentenced in absentia to eight years of imprisonment for support of terrorists
SBU materials helped to sentence “in absentia” to eight years of imprisonment a local resident for the support of “D/LNR” terrorist organizations.
Pre-trial investigation conducted by the SBU under procedural guidance of regional prosecutor's office found that the resident of Nova Kakhovka actively conducted anti-Ukrainian propaganda and agitation. To avoid criminal responsibility, he, in October 2014, started out to the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. The attacker joined terrorists and was appointed deputy commander responsible for personnel of one of the illegal armed groups.
Militant conducted recruitment for joining to “DNR” terrorist organization, controlled static duties, particularly at checkpoints, in the barracks, monitored the execution of orders of the heads of the terrorist organization among personnel. He also conducted interrogations of captured servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to establish the number of regular Ukrainian troops, their commanders and deployment in residential areas of Donetsk region.
SBU documented that since September 2016, being in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region attacker participated and facilitated to “LNR” terrorist organization within "7th Brigade of the People's Militia of Luhansk People's Republic”.
Based on the preliminary investigation body received evidence of illegal activity, Berdyansk interdistrict court of Zaporizzhya region found the accused guilty of committing a crime under Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment.
