Luhansk region: SBU blocks illegal migration channel from Central Asia

In Luhansk region SBU stopped the activity of organized group that trafficked foreigners through the Ukrainian state border from Russia.

SBU operatives uncovered that illicit scheme was organized by 3 residents
of  Troyitskiy district and several Russians. Russian accomplices were looking for “clients” from a Central Asia country with high terrorism threat.

They crossed the Ukrainian border avoiding Luhansk check-points, where the intruders met and escorted them to final destination. The price of such services comprised USD 400 per each “tourist”. The first part they paid in Russia, the second- after arrival to Ukraine.

SBU detained two offenders and four migrants on their attempt to cross the state border.

In the framework of the criminal proceeding under Part 2 Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigations are ongoing.

The issue of serving notices of suspicion to involved persons is now being decided.

Operation was conducted under procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Luhansk region.
