SBU detected and blocked in Chernihiv the activities of pro-Russian agitator, who distributed separatist materials through social networks.

Operatives and investigators of the special service established that a resident of the regional center created and administered in social networks, including those banned in our country, separatist groups and pages. Agitator, particularly, called for changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine.

The offender used materials from the propaganda sites of the aggressor country and the illegal armed formations for stuffing of Internet resources.

During the search at the involved person’s residence, the SBU officers seized computer equipment and mobile devices with evidence of separatist activities.

It is indicative that the agitator already has the previous outstanding conviction for committing of a similar crime. SBU investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides from 3 to 5 years of imprisonment. The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the offender and choosing the measure of restraint is being decided.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The measures to detect the offender were conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Chernihiv region.
